The previous homeowner already paid for it, and in most cases it transfers with the home. Your only cost is the monthly monitoring service fee, which starts at $29.99 per month with no long-term contract required. There is no activation fee and no equipment purchase necessary when you are restarting an existing system.

Every Vivint system is built around the Vivint Smart Hub — a touchscreen control panel that connects all your devices. When you call our activation team at 800-598-5228, one of our specialists will pull up the existing account history for your address and give you a complete list of everything installed in your home. Common equipment found in homes with existing Vivint systems includes:

For security reasons, Vivint cannot provide the previous owner's PIN code. When you activate the system, our specialists will reset the panel and set up a new PIN code for you. If the equipment is physically installed in the home, in most cases it stays with the home.
